Book one of a new series is released. Primal Forest-Sponsored System book #1

What do you do when you're given advance notice that your planet is about to be inducted into a System in thirty days? When the announcement is made by people whose species have only been seen in stories and games? When these same people offer a chance to a select few, those who can afford it on short notice, to be inducted into the System early and grow in power before the System even arrives on Earth?

Strange arches show up all over the world, and no-one quite knows what's going on, although theories abound. Mike and his grandfather, Collin, try to investigate one of these arches, setting off a kerfluffle that leads to the people who have arrived having to announce themselves earlier than intended. The same incident also gets Mike in trouble with law enforcement as he posts video of some things the government would prefer not be released to the general public.

With the announcement that the training offered will take place on a planet already inducted into the System, and that only those who can afford the price of an ounce of gold will be allowed through the portals to the training planet, Mike loses hope. Collin, who's been a prepper for years, comes through, surprising Mike with a gold Krugerrand that will allow him to pass through the portal to train. Dodging the cops, Mike makes it to the local portal just in time for the first group.

The training is simple, but brutal, and one of the trainers, a rather unruly orc, seems to take an unhealthy interest in Mike. That interest turns to hatred as Mike refuses to be scammed. The conflict between the two has Mike fleeing into the forest outside of the Safe Zone used for training, a forest that looks like it has been untouched for thousands of years and is full of monsters, ruins, and more.

By the time Mike makes it home, he's gained a class, a group, and has grown in power more than most of the trainees taking the safer route with the trainers. Things on Earth are falling apart, with riots and burning cities from the panicking people who stayed home. On top of that, the arrival of the System also triggers the arrival of the monsters.

Mike and his group have trained for this, now it's time to put that training to work.

This story is approximately 160,000 words long and DRM free.

It's available on Amazon at:

or search for ASIN: B0DBSXQ5WM if you use something other than .com for Amazon.

I was unsatisfied with the cover for #1, so when I managed to get a new cover provider for #2, I had them redo the cover for #1 also. I much prefer the new one.

New book releasing - Wormhole Mana: Power

I finally got the cover I was after. So my new book has been uploaded to Amazon and will go live as soon as they finish with reviewing and publishing it.

Max is a guy trying to make ends meet, stuck in a maintenance job at a government research facility since it's the only thing in the area that will pay all of his bills.

The research going on at the lab goes awry, and suddenly things start getting strange. At first, he wonders if it's just him hallucinating, but as more and more people admit to the same, he settles in to try to adapt.

I'll edit this post with a link to the book once it's live. In the meanwhile, here's the cover I was waiting on.

New book is ready, mostly

My new book is good to go, except for one thing. The cover, that I initially contacted selfpubbookcovers about back in October, is still a no-show.

I've used this company for the covers for my last two series, with little to no problem. However, this time there seems to be a serious problem. Selfpubbookcovers was acquired by Draft2Digital at some point during the time frame since I requested my cover, and I did get some excuses related to that over the several months. I could let that slide for it to be a bit late, but every little thing about this time through their procedures has been problematic. I contacted them originally on October 11th, but never heard back on the first request until the 18th. I'm used to a day or two turnaround in the past, not a week.

Then, my next contact was two weeks later when they finally confirmed that they had an artist that could do the cover on Nov. 1st. I sent the non-refundable start fee on that day, then didn't hear anything until the 14th, when I sent an additional email asking what was up.

After that, I sent another request on the 19th of December, more than a month later, and didn't get a reply until Dec 27th, apologizing and saying that with the changeover to D2D the email must've gotten lost in the shuffle. I did finally get a mockup from the artist on Jan 3rd and approved it, paid in entirety at that time (actually overpaid since I'd already paid the start fee, but he quoted me the entire fee again, not accounting for the start fee so that's what I paid, hoping to actually finally get my cover).

So, here we are on January 16th, I've paid for the cover, plus an extra $50 beyond the price quoted (the amount of the start fee), and I'm still waiting. That's more than three months since my original request, and almost two weeks since I paid everything due on the cover, and I still don't have it.

In the past, I'd have happily recommended selfpubbookcovers for indie writers looking for a cover for their book, but after this clusterf**k, I honestly can't and will probably end up looking for another company to get my own covers from.

Anyhow, Wormhole Mana: Power, is all finished, proofed, edited, and ready to go, except for a cover.

I just got an email from my audio book people (Tantor) about a 50% discount on the audio book for Alt System, the fifth book in my Natural Laws Apocalypse series. Here's the link:

Feel free to share that link if you like, I don't do audio myself, prefer to actually read, so I don't know where it would be most appropriate.
